Bought this bike after test riding entry level carbon frame offerings from Felt, Giant, and Scott. Felt was only one close to matching the ride exhilaration of the Madone 3.1. Trek saved me $300 !!! My step-up from aluminum to carbon was awesome. Understand that everything was an upgrade from what I was riding. Riding is now a pure joy. I've put 1500 miles on since August. My bike feels like an extension of my legs on steroids, only this is all legal. 30 mile spins in 1.5 hours are now a common occurrence. Rode my first century ever in easy comfort. Great bike, fast, responsive, and very comfortable on the hoods or hammering in the drops. If you find a friendly knowledgeable LBS that deals Trek, give them a try. I feel like I made a great choice. Only downside is all I want to do is roll.....

I bought this bike about two weeks and I am so happy with my purchase. The bike is lightweight, responsive, and fast. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I do not find the seat uncomfortable. The bike is a joy to ride and I look forward to coming home and taking it for a spin.

Prior to owning this bike, I was just a very casual rider. Now that I have my Madone, I can't get enough of it. I can't believe how fast it goes and it sometimes feels as though I am being pushed along from behind. Loving it.

The Trek 3.1 provides a terrific high quality and lightweight frameset, middle of the road components, and low-mid level wheels and seat. It gives you great high quality and lightweight carbon for a bargain price. It makes you feel secure, provides a more solid ride, is more safe at speed, and people admire it. It's such a perfect bike for me - a novice road biker. Training on this bike is so much fun. I get a smile on my face every time I take off with it. Others have not been satisfied with the wheels and seat. However, they feel fine for me and my level. I tried 4 bikes before deciding on this one, plus a few of 3.1's of different sizes. I came back to this one every time. It gives a more solid feel, better steering. I got the internal fork sensor with computer and belt clip petals. Riding the bike is heavenly due to the solid feel, the smoothness, ease to speed, and how it all feels like one piece that works perfectly all together. Only one issue - do not plan on using a bike rack. Carbon is unbelievable, solid feel, lightweight, and super cool, but it is thin walled, a bit brittle, and provides hours of great fun.

Sensational bike! As a rider just getting back into cycling this bike is amazing. Every time I ride it I have a permanent grin on my face! The responsiveness, acceleration and stiffness of the bike is hard to beat at the price that is paid. Trek have certainly hit the mark for an entry level carbon bike. I would recommend this bike to anyone.

My wife decided to begin riding the roads this spring. I resurrected my interest in road cycling so we could ride together. Before long, we had two new Madone 3.1's on order. In my late twenties and early thirties (now in my fifties), I rode a nice Bianchi road bike. That bike was comfortable, predictable and trusted ... I never expected to replace that old Bianchi ... unfortunately, I sold it to a fellow a couple of years back. As it turns out, I am happy I sold the old bike ... when the new Madone's arrived, I was shocked. The Madone 3.1 smooth, light, quick, fast, comfortable and consistent ... and the price is terrific for an all-carbon bike. I cannot begin to describe the pleasure we are deriving from the new bikes. Trek has a winner here ... like any carbon bike ... don't abuse it and it will serve you well!

I ride 17.7 miles each way to work 2-3 days per week with 25 pounds in my backpack. My times have dropped from 1.5 hours to just over an hour which has motivated me to ride more often. I never thought a new bike could make such a difference! To be fair, I did upgrade fom a "vintage" (aka old) motobecane which probably had 50k miles on it. I had upgraded the old bike several times over the years, but the change is still remarkable. I notice the biggest differences in stability and climbing. Depending on the route I take, going from Lakewood to downtown Denver is either full of traffic or trails with 1000 feet change in elevation. This bike inspires confidence in every situation.

I am absolutely amazed by this bike. The smoothness of the ride, the quick sprints, climbing power, the overall fit. I rode A LOT of aluminum bikes prior to riding this one and the advantages of the carbon fiber were obvious. It was a no-brainer - go for carbon fiber if you can afford it. I test rode a lot of bikes from Cannondale, Fuji, Specialized, and others and I always went back to this Madone 3.1. I also rode the Trek 4.5 and 4.7 and while they were better, I didnt feel the difference in price beyond the 3.1 was worth it for my style of riding.

This is my first "real" bike purchase. I have come to the point where I needed a real bike with quality components. I visited the local Trek store, and I could not be happier with that experience! I was fitted to the bike, or rather the bike was fitted to me. Words cannot describe the difference between this bike and any other bike I have owned. This bike is hands down one of the best bikes you can get for your money. Every aspect of this bike is top quality, and I am very satisfied.
