Product Details

Sunlite Dog Leash

A well-exercised dog is a happy dog, so give Fido a good workout while you ride! Sunlite's Dog Leash consists of a metal bar that mounts under the rear axle bolt or quick-release and straps to your chainstay. This keeps the center of gravity low so you stay stable if your dog pulls to one side. The bar is long enough to keep your pup away from the bike, too.

    Run That Husky!

    Comments:

I'm running a Husky, so there's no way this will work as pictured. Husky's like to lead and pull, so I replaced the leash with a bungee cord so he can at least run beside me. Even as pictured a short bungee would be more appropriate for you and the dog as it's immediately obvious when the leash goes taut. Make sure your rear axle bolt is long enough as the mount point is rather thick. Also note that this mount location will interfere with a rear frame mounted kickstand. We just love it, now that we use a bungee!

    Comments:

Well, let me tell you about this product... Everything was looking great, the leash wasn't to hard to install on my vintage Peugeot 10 speed and Kitty seemed really excited about the idea of going on a bike ride with me, after all I think adventures in the basket were getting old. I attached the leash to her collar and we were off. Initially I thought Kitty would prance right along behind me, but as soon as I busted into my large ring it was a race. Kitty despertly shrieked and tried to run ahead only to catch her arm right in my spokes! I came to a schreeching stop and dismounted to aid my poor Kitty. All said and done, Kitty will only fit in the basket now and I will never use this product again. Perhaps, as the image shows, walking a dog might be quite easier.

      Comments:

I use this with my boxer. He LOVES going for bike rides - even more than treats. I like it because it keeps him fully controlled, even if he tries to bolt after a squirrel. He's learned to sit quietly when we stop to pick up poo (I needed to learn to notice his "I-gotta-stop-NOW!" signals.) I've actually hooked up two dogs at once and they quickly learned to stay on their own side and rides went great.
